Why We Ask You to Register
| |
We ask you to register and we collect voluntary
information because it helps us better deliver service
to you. The main legal reason to collect your information
has to do with email accountability. You may opt not to
provide personal data, however, your services may be limited
as a result of that decision. |
What Information We Collect
| |
We only collect information
you voluntarily supply us. We stress parental involvement
and permission before you supply information to eCamp.
We explain in clear language easily understood by a child
why any information is being requested and how it will
be used. We only ask for essential information that helps
us learn more about the people using our products and
to protect us legally.
eCamp has several rules regarding usage for children of
different ages; children ages 13-17 require parental consent.
Children 12 and under require written parental consent
to use the eCamp site. We will send an e-mail to the parents
of members who are know to be under 13 that must be authorized
and returned for the child to contribute to any interactive
component of the eCamp network including: email, chat
rooms, bulletin boards, and more. |
Why We Ask For E-mail Addresses
| |
Your e-mail address is required
so that we can hold users accountable for their actions
(for example in chat rooms and on message boards) and
contact them without compromising their physical location.
We may use your email address to communicate with you
otherwise. If would prefer not to receive information
from eCamp, you may 'opt out' of email announcements.
If you are under 13 years old, we require your parent
or guardian's email address so that we may notify them
of your use of the eCamp network and request their permission
in writing in compliance with COPPA laws. |
You Can Update Your Registration
Information
| |
Registered users are welcome
to view, change or delete their registration information
at any time. Users will also be able to change their preferences
on the eCamp site regarding mailings, and protection of
user profile information. |
Cookies
| |
Cookies are pieces of information that a
Web site transfers to an individual's hard drive for record-keeping
purposes. Cookies make Web-surfing easier for you by saving
your preferences while you're at our site. We never save
passwords or credit card information in cookies. The use
of cookies is an industry standard, you'll find them at
most major Web sites.
By showing how and when guests use a site, cookies help
us see which areas are popular and which are not. Many
improvements and updates to the site are based on such
data as total number of visitors and pages viewed. This
information is most easily tracked with cookies. We use
the information from cookies to provide services better
tailored to our users needs.
eCamp uses cookies for two primary uses. First, we use
them to specify unique preferences. Secondly, we use cookies
to track user trends and patterns. This helps us better
understand and improve areas of the eCamp web site that
our users find valuable. While both of these activities
depend on the use of a "cookie," visitors to eCamp always
have the option of disabling cookies in their browser
preferences.
Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies.
You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or indicate
when a cookie is being sent. However, note that some parts
of eCamp will not function properly or may be considerably
slower if you refuse cookies.
You may occasionally get cookies from our business partners
(if you click on them). eCamp does not control these cookies.
The use of cookies sent by third-party servers is standard
in the Internet industry |
Message To Parents
| |
eCamp urges children to check with parents
before giving out any personal information. We urge you
to closely monitor your children's Internet activities
and to become educated about Internet practices affecting
children, and to educate us by telling us what is important
to you in this area. If you have questions or concerns
you can send an e-mail message to:
feedback@ecamp.net.

Extended Legal Notices
eCamp, Inc. will not disclose your personal information to third
parties without your consent. eCamp may disclose user information
in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing
this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring
legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or
interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally)
eCamp's rights or property, other eCamp users, or anyone else
that could be harmed by such activities. eCamp may disclose
user information when we believe in good faith that the law
requires it.
eCamp shares aggregate information about our users with advertisers,
business partners, sponsors and other third parties. For example,
we will say eCamp's audience is x percent females and y percent
males. This data is used to customize content and advertising
to deliver a better experience for our users.
eCamp may ask you for personal information such as your name,
email address, and birth date. eCamp needs to collect this information
for fulfilling prizes, tracking/verifying compliance with eCamp
policies as well as federal, state and local laws and/or for
editorial and feedback solicitation purposes.
In case you change your mind or some personal information may
change, we provide a way to correct, update or remove the personal
data you give us. You can do this on preferences page or by
contacting Customer Support at: support@ecamp.net.
OPTING-OUT
Information provided at the time of Registration or submission
from a guest who is 13 years of age or over may be used for
marketing and promotional purposes by eCamp and our affiliates
or companies that have been prescreened by eCamp. To keep you
in control of your personal information and the communications
directed to you, we allow you to opt-out of the following services:
sharing your eCamp email address in our user directory and receiving
communications from eCamp about new features or services. If
a user objects to such use for any reason, he/she may stop that
use by e-mailing a request to support@ecamp.net or by modifying
his/her user information online or by following the directions
in the footer of any mail piece sent by eCamp.
POLICIES FOR INDIVIDUALS UNDER 13 YEARS OF AGE
eCamp encourages parents and guardians to spend time online
with their children and to participate in the activities offered
on the sites. No information should be submitted to or posted
eCamp by guests under 13 years of age without the consent of
their parent or guardian.
eCamp does not provide any personally identifying information
to any third party for any purpose whatsoever from our guests
under 13 years of age. All registrants receive an e-mail confirming
their Registration. In addition, when a guest under 13 registers,
he/she is required to provide the e-mail address of his/her
parent or guardian and that parent or guardian receives an e-mail
alerting them to that Registration. Since all of eCamp's activities
are monitored, registered guests under 13 years of age may participate
in such activities upon registration, unless their parent or
guardian asks that their registration be invalidated. In order
for the potential member to use eCamp interactive services (such
as e-mail), the parent or guardian listed must validate the
account, as described in the e-mail. This process is in compliance
with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of
1998.
Although guests under 13 years of age may be allowed to participate
in some contests and promotions, if such a guest wins, notification
is sent to the parents or guardians identified in the initial
registration process. Publication of contest winners' names,
ages, or images for individuals under 13 requires parental or
guardian consent.
POLICIES FOR INDIVIDUALS 13 TO 17 YEARS OF AGE
These members are required to have parental consent prior to
registering for an eCamp account. By registering for eCamp you
are agreeing to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement
and thereby indicating that parental consent has been granted.
USE OF IP ADDRESSES
An IP address is a number that's automatically assigned to your
computer whenever you're on the Web.
eCamp collects IP addresses for the purposes of system administration,
to report aggregate information to our advertisers, to report
abusive users and to audit the use of our site. When guests
request pages from eCamp, our servers log the guests' IP addresses.
We will use IP addresses to identify a user when we feel it
is necessary to enforce compliance with our eCamp rules or terms
of service or to protect our service, site, customers or others.
LINKS TO OTHER SITES
Users should be aware that when you are on eCamp you could be
directed to other sites that are beyond our control. There are
links to other sites from eCamp that take you outside our service.
This includes links from advertisers, sponsors and partners
that may use the eCamp logo as part of a co-branding agreement.
These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect
data or solicit personal information.
In an effort to help children identify advertisements, eCamp
explicitly identifies all advertisements on our site.
Please keep in mind that whenever you give out personal information
that information can be collected and used by people you don't
know. eCamp strives to protect its user's personal information
and privacy, we cannot guarantee the security of any information
you disclose online and you do so at your own risk.
eCamp's policy does not extend to anything that is inherent
in the operation of the Internet, and therefore beyond eCamp's
control, and is not to be applied in any manner contrary to
applicable law or governmental regulation.
